If you’re ready to get out of your Chicago apartment after a long hard winter, you’ll find plenty of things on the April calendar. As spring’s warmth begins to be felt, the weekends and even the weekdays are starting to load up with major events.

1. Catching a baseball game

Both the Sox and the Cubs are swinging into full action now. While the weather can still be a little nippy, the boys of summer are ready to warm things up! Check on each team’s Web site for home game days and ticket information.

2. Check out the rodeo

The Professional Bull Riders Cooper Tires Invitation takes place this month at Allstate Arena. The live action is captivating.

3. Explore the parks

If you haven’t gotten out yet to see the Botanical Garden, the Brookfield Zoo or other major destinations, now’s the time to do so. The greenhouses and the Regenstein Center at the gardens open April 22. The city of Chicago is also home to dozens of other parks just ripe for exploring. You’ll find parks that are perfect for playing, walking, hiking and even just sitting around and people watching are all located within Chicago’s bounds.

4. Merchandise Mart shows

This venue on Chicago Avenue plays host to a number of events during the month of April. You’ll find an extensive arts show and antiques fair are both on tap toward the end of the month.

Chicago offers plenty of tours that begin to kick off in the spring time. From historic tours to neighborhood-based explorations, you’ll find these are a great way to get out and learn more about the city of Chicago.

6. Visit Navy Pier

If you haven’t done so yet, spring is the perfect time to check out this incredible venue. Navy Pier offers shopping, dining, tons of outdoor activities and its own Ferris wheel. Plus, it is also home to the Lincoln Park Zoo, Buckingham Fountain and some incredible sculptures. When it gets a little warmer, you might even want to check out the beach. This is a must-see spot on the Chicago landscape.

As the weather warms up, the activities in Chicago will start coming in fast-paced succession. You’ll find plenty to do here in the spring, both indoors and out. Just make sure to get out of your Chicago apartment and enjoy! There’s too much to see and do to pass up!
