Plan a Party for the Kids at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium

Parents looking for fun things to do for kids need only look under the sea. The Shedd Aquarium offers a variety of packages to get kids out of their apartments in Chicago and enjoying the great big world around them.

Shedd Aquarium, 1200 South Lake Shore Drive, is a favorite destination for locals and tourists alike. The large aquarium features a number of exhibits that allow visitors to take the in water-based wildlife from places as widespread as the Amazon and the Caribbean. From sea turtles and lizards to sharks and belugas, the Shedd has them all.

In addition to its regular exhibits and programs, the Shedd Aquarium offers a number of special events just for youngsters. It has some great back to school ideas and fun things to do for kids that will keep them talking for quite some time.

Whether you’re just looking for something to do to kill a few hours or you want really unique slumber party ideas, the Shedd delivers. Here are a few things to do for kids that will be certain to please:

Birthday Parties – The Shedd Aquarium is a great place for a birthday party for a little one who really wants to do something unique and memorable.

Parties, by the way, are also available for adults. During the parties, guests can tour the aquarium, take in the dolphin show and find out everything they wanted to know about creatures who call oceans and freshwater bodies home. Parties start at $275 for nonmembers and $225 for members.

Overnights – This is a real splash with the kids who are looking for something very cool to do. The Shedd Aquarium plays host to slumber parties on an occasional basis. The sleepover events are geared for children age five through the sixth grade. They must be accompanied by an adult.

Youngsters who attend the Shedd during a sleepover will be treated to a themed night of games, programs and hands-on activities. In the morning, guests can see the animals one more time and enjoy a free breakfast before they head home. The cost is generally around $60 per participant. The upcoming Spooky Seas sleepover is set for Halloween night. It includes animal encounters, trick-or-treating, costume contests, snacks and dancing.

The Shedd Aquarium gives anyone looking for fun things to do for kids to deliver in a very big way. This venue provides everything necessary to make a very big splash with youngsters.
